I found this definition of “wait” and I love it “to remain in readiness for a purpose.” While we are waiting, we are waiting in “readiness”. In other words, we are preparing ourselves and we are equipping ourselves for when the wait is over. The wait won’t last forever!
Nobody likes to wait, whether we are waiting in line to do a transaction, waiting in traffic or simply waiting on someone or for something. But what about waiting on God? You prayed and fasted. You remained faithful and now you are waiting. Some people are waiting for an answer, healing, a financial breakthrough, a job, a child, a husband/wife, for a certain situation to turn around; and the list goes on and on.
Here are some verses from the King James Version (KJV) of the bible, to hold onto and to declare in your season of waiting.
SEEK GOD WHILE YOU WAIT.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. ~ Matthew 6:33
HAVE FAITH WHILE YOU WAIT.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ~ Hebrews 11:1
STAY CONFIDENT WHILE YOU WAIT.
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. ~ Psalm 27:13-14
HOPE IN GOD’S WORD WHILE YOU WAIT.
I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word do I hope. ~ Psalm 130:5
WAIT UNTIL YOUR CHANGE COME.
If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. ~ Job 14:14
Remember, to remain in readiness for a purpose as you wait.
