Happy New Month! Welcome to the month of October! Even though we are already a few days in 🙂
October means so many things! It is harvest time, The Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah), Pastors/Clergy Appreciation, Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness and so much more!
Galatians 6:9 EASY “We must continue to do things that are good and we should not get tired. If we do not feel weak and stop doing good things, then we will receive a good harvest at the proper time.”
The completion of harvesting marks the end of the growing season, or the growing cycle depending on the crop, geographical location etc. To celebrate the harvest, festivals or special services are held in the months of September or October depending on the local tradition even up to November.
In the verse above, we are encouraged that one of these days we will reap a harvest; but that will only happen: If we do not give up. If we do not give in. If we do not get weary. If we do not get tired. If we do not faint. If we do not lose heart.
Life is filled with so many ups and downs and the different seasons of life are necessary. There are seasons of planting, seasons of watering, seasons of fertilizing, seasons of weeding, seasons of growth etc. All of these seasons are necessary before we get to the harvest season. Harvest does not come overnight, we must put in the necessary work. At the proper time and at the right time, we will reap a harvest from the seeds that we have sown.
Also, Jesus talks about a different type of harvesting in Matthew 9:37, “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is [indeed] plentiful, but the workers are few.”
Here are some self-reflecting harvesting questions you can ask yourself based on where you are on your journey:
- Can you identify the season you are in?
- What are you harvesting now?
- What should I give thanks for?
- What are some of the challenges you encountered to get to this harvest season?
- If you do not have anything to harvest now, what are you hoping to seed so you can harvest in the future?
